Chinese Freshwater Pearls
25/01/10 14:56
The Chinese have imported a lot a Japanese pearl
culturing technology over the last decade, as well
as making some advances of their own. Additionally,
the Chinese have an obvious advantage in labor
costs compared to most competitors. The result is a
good quality but inexpensive cultured pearl formed
by a fresh water mussel, with the nacre (shiny
surface material) generally extending the full
depth of the pearl.
The price-quality ratio here is exceptional.
We have a 47" strand of these pearls at 7.75 mm available for $110. They are a steal.
